Help Students Provide Basic Healthcare to the Underserved

Students in the Harrison School of Pharmacy (HSOP) make it a priority to help the homeless and underserved in their communities. For students at the HSOP Mobile campus, that means collaborating with medical school students to create the PAWS Clinic. PAWS stands for Providing Access to Wellness Services. The PAWS Clinic provides a real-world atmosphere for students to learn and grow as pharmacists while also helping their community.

Auburn Pharmacy PAWS is a student committee that provides basic healthcare services to the underserved population of Mobile as part of an interdisciplinary team. PAWS currently partners with students of the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, College of Nursing, and Physician Assistant Studies program to provide basic wellness services, including blood glucose monitoring, blood pressure checks, and medication counseling, for the homeless in a student-run free clinic at the 15 Place Day Shelter.

This new clinic is just getting off the ground and needs your help. It has two exam rooms that are not fully furnished, one of which still needs an exam table. Additionally, the clinic is in need of basic supplies so students can provide the highest level of healthcare possible.

Please help pharmacy students establish this special place for learning and caring.
