Founded in fall 2018, the Environmental Action Committee is a student organization that seeks to bring a sense of environmental stewardship and sustainable action to the Auburn University campus.
We plan to install four new solar-powered tables, featuring charging stations, around the Student Center and Greenspace. Your gift will go toward the supplies to manufacture these tables, helping to leave a unique and useful mark on Auburn’s campus. The total cost for supplies, building, and implementation will total $5,200, or $1,300 per table.
We will work closely with Environmental Design students who will be able to implement what they have learned, gaining practical experience.
Benefits to additional outdoor tables include:
Currently, there are solar-powered picnic tables next to Foy Hall and some of the Quad Residence Halls. The tables provide an outdoor study space with the benefit of outlets to charge devices. These have already proven their value on campus to students and visitors.
The picnic tables are convenient if you’re on campus and need a charge. They reduce congestion in indoor spaces where people tend to congregate around outlets, and they generate renewable energy.
This Tiger Giving Day, help us create something that will serve the university far into the future, all the while helping Auburn take the next step into becoming a more sustainable place. Thank you for your generous support; War Eagle!
