Alabama is the nation’s sixth poorest state. More than 800,000 citizens, including 250,000 children, live below the poverty line.
Because of this clear statewide need, the Honors College at Auburn University designed a service program called, "k(no)w poverty? Week of Service."
Designed to give incoming students a deeper understanding of the complex subject of poverty through multiple lectures, topical films, and required reading, the service program also involves students in hands-on service work.
With your help, we can provide funds for much-needed safety equipment, meals, educational materials, films, and speakers for next year’s participants.
We hope this program inspires and engages Honors College students to work toward eliminating poverty in Alabama.
Thanks to a private donation, every dollar raised will be matched. For example, if you give $10 the k(no)w poverty? Week of Service program will receive $20.
Help the Honors College serve our state by giving today.
