This Tiger Giving Day, we hope to follow the example of other universities and install several treadmill walking workstations and stationary bicycle desks in the Ralph Brown Draughon Library (RBD) so we can help our students succeed physically as well as mentally.
Increasing physical activity is an excellent way to counteract stress. Physical activity lowers cortisol levels in the brain, improves cardiovascular health, and increases mental retention and recall.
Students have been spending more time in the RBD Library since we introduced the Mell Classroom Building addition in 2017 and a Panera in 2018 as part of our ongoing initiative to provide an active and engaging learning experience.
As we continue to provide unique and flexible space, we also want to ensure students have access to anything that might help them be better and healthier students at Auburn University. Students should not have to choose between physical activity and studying.
Please consider supporting this project and the nearly 30,000 students who have access to the RBD Library and its resources! Thank you, and War Eagle!
