Companies like SpaceX, Tesla, and Boeing consistently recruit War Eagle Motorsports team members because of their experience working with cutting-edge carbon fiber material. Help us purchase carbon fiber for our 2020 racecars so we can continue to be a U.S. leader in Formula SAE!
War Eagle Motorsports provides a hands-on educational experience like no other. Our team designs, builds, tests, and races two formula style racecars each year from the ground up — one electric and one combustion. Students learn to apply their classroom knowledge as well as develop new skills in fabrication, machining, and composites.
Our racecar’s chassis is a carbon fiber monocoque that weighs only 29 pounds. Our aerodynamic elements are made of carbon fiber and weigh less than 5 pounds each. In addition to these, many other parts of our car are carbon fiber, including the intake, seat, fuel tank, and wheels. All of these parts are created by students in our shop. Our racecars are among the best in the country due to the incredible amount of carbon fiber parts.
Our combustion racecar is the only one in Formula SAE that weighs less than 400 pounds with an aerodynamics package and a 4-cylinder engine. This helped propel an Auburn University racecar from 0-60 mph in 2.7 seconds, a combustion class record for Formula SAE.
Our team’s carbon fiber manufacturing is on the cutting edge. We consistently amaze industry leading companies with our carbon layups and parts. We even have interns each year from European schools come to study our carbon fiber manufacturing processes. This season, we must rely on purchasing carbon fiber ourselves to maintain our manufacturing schedule.
Your support will allow our team to remain competitive on the world stage and give Auburn students an educational experience that is truly one of a kind.
