Knock Down Barriers for Children with Autism

The Auburn University Psychological Services Center (AUPSC) and the Center for Autism Research, Treatment, and Training (CARTT) are university-based, non-profit clinics that operate on a reduced fee basis to serve as many individuals as possible, but even that can be cost prohibitive for some families.

Our goal is to alleviate the financial burden some families face when seeking early services for their children with autism. Your gift would help cover the expenses of testing materials for assessments, diagnostic evaluations, early behavioral intervention services, and caregiver training, among others.

Access to early diagnosis and behavioral intervention can be a determining factor in positive outcomes later in life for children with autism, yet access to licensed providers is limited and the cost can be a prohibitive barrier for some families. Help us knock down a barrier for children with autism in our community!

One in 59 children are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Out of those children diagnosed with autism, only a subset receive services aimed at improving the child’s learning, communication, and social skills.

According to the Alabama Autism Surveillance Program, the number of children diagnosed with autism in our state who are able to access services at all or in a timely manner is much lower than in other states. Every year, many families are referred to our training clinic for diagnostic evaluations, behavioral interventions, and support, yet we are unable to serve them all because for some families these services are unaffordable.

Through your generous donations, you can help our staff and students provide exceptional and evidence-based services for children as young as 18 months with autism whom would otherwise be unable to access services.

Even a small donation can help change the life of a child with autism.
