Instrument Petting Zoo for Schoolchildren

The Gogue Center will host an “Instrument Petting Zoo” for local and area schoolchildren to support their music education.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to bring in the Alabama Symphony Orchestra (or other organization/ensemble) for an orchestral performance inside the Woltosz Theatre, followed by an opportunity for students to interact with the instruments and learn from the musicians who play them, providing an integrative, hands-on learning experience.

Children who have a music education and learn to play an instrument benefit from:

  • A greater work ethic
  • Better motor skills through hand-eye coordination
  • A richer imagination and greater intellectual curiosity
  • A strong peer community—students in band or orchestra are less likely to abuse substances over their lifetime

Thank you for supporting the music and the arts with your gift to the Gogue Center’s Tiger Giving Day project 2020.
