Continue The Fight Against Breast Cancer

Tiger Giving Day has ended, but you can still give to the Gene Machine here.

Because much of Alabama is medically underserved, the Gene Machine brings cutting edge research-based genetic testing to communities all across the state, and has partnered with a number of local organizations, particularly breast cancer support groups, who help meet and educate survivors and their family members. 

But the pandemic has forced us to change our operations.

We're still driving the Gene Machine locally to transport study participant specimens contributed through an ongoing partnership with East Alabama Medical Center. But we are not able to attend community events or travel to individuals for study enrollment.  

We've modified our protocol to virtually connect with the community. These changes include online cancer genetics education seminars and virtual study enrollments. This approach allows our team to continue breast cancer research at Auburn and stay connected with the community while protecting vulnerable cancer survivors from unnecessary face-to-face contact.  

Changing our operations comes with a cost, particularly with virtual enrollment kits.

We are working to keep more of our sisters, daughters, wives, moms, and friends from falling victim to breast cancer, and you can help. 

Keep us moving toward more knowledge and understanding about what genes cause breast cancer and better options for women at risk, and make sure our work can continue even during this altered operational moment.
