Auburn’s aquaponics facility feeds Auburn students.
We have partnered with Tiger Dining to provide Auburn students with fresh, local, sustainable fish and vegetables grown on our campus. We also hire Auburn students to operate and conduct research in the aquaponics facility—providing them with real-world, hands-on skills that will lead to jobs in sustainable food production.
We need funds to install and outfit these tanks with the latest technology to maximize their production efficiency.
Support the purchase of new systems for our tanks this Tiger Giving Day and enable food production and undergraduate agriculture jobs here at Auburn!
Once complete, our new tank system will allow us to grow a wide range of fish including tilapia, bass and even saltwater species like shrimp. It also will allow for real-time monitoring of the fish status, and we will develop an app that allows the community to track our fish tank performance. The benefits to Auburn students will be significant, both for those who work in our system and the thousands who eat our products.
