The Government & Economic Development Institute at Auburn University is tasked with training economic developers, elected officials, municipal workers, and community leaders throughout Alabama. Many depend on us for professional certifications, some of which are mandated for their jobs.
We have been diligent to convert many of our programs to digital formats with online and hybrid offerings, but this requires upgrades and additions to technology and equipment. In addition, we frequently run several programs simultaneously, creating the need for multiple sets of equipment.
This Tiger Giving Day project will allow us to obtain the technology we need to continue providing our important services throughout the state, expand our course offerings, and allow our participants to continue and advance in their careers in the most cost-effective, safe and convenient way possible.
Our project seeks to buy two webcams and external microphones, two laptop computers, two large format portable screens, two seven port splitters, two tripods and a digital video camera. The budget to cover the cost of this equipment is $7,000. If we exceed our goal, we can cover costs for online exam monitoring and additional software and peripherals. We host more than 100 courses a year and always have a need for more hardware.
