Thank you for helping us meet our goal! For every $1,250 raised over our goal, we can document one additional Rosenwald School in Alabama. We are aware of 18 in the state that are still standing. With enough funds, we can document all these schools before they are gone. But it doesn’t end here, there are Rosenwald Schools in Georgia and Mississippi in need of documentation too. Professors Gorham Bird and Junshan Liu are scanning these buildings using laser scanners, drones, and 360-degree technology to maintain the history of these buildings in an online archive. Users can virtually walk through the schools and into each room where they will find educational videos and photos of students who attended the school.   

Eventually, these findings will be used to create physical showcases and exhibits using 3D printed models and virtual reality walk-through experiences.
