Streamline Communications for the Campus Kitchen

The Campus Kitchen at Auburn University is raising funds this Tiger Giving Day to subsidize the development and implementation of an app that will provide essential, consolidated information to our daily operations. 

As a non-profit organization, our core purpose is to support food-insecure individuals in and around Auburn with unserved food from dining halls, restaurants and other trusted entities. There is a large amount of data that must be managed weekly—such as quantifying our food intake, the number of volunteers and other performance indicators— and over the course of more than 10 years as an organization, we have found means of recording all this data.

However, incoming information can be lost in translation, or difficult to navigate. 

Understanding this concern, we wish to furnish an all-encompassing enterprise app to use in all phases of our operation. It will inform all necessary parties with data updates, new volunteers and real-time information. This app would also encourage other technological advances due to the breadth of opportunities its implementation would provide. 

This app will allow us to focus more on our mission, and could be used by community partners as a central, reliable line of communication to ensure all parties are on the same page—an absolutely necessary component of our operations.

The funds raised for this project would primarily go towards compensating software engineers to create the initial app, supplementing further development, and integrating it with all devices. Additionally, the proceeds would cover all front-end and back-end costs related to developing and publishing an app. This project would prove to be a long-term investment of a new, technologically-focused team that supplies the community with nourishing food by utilizing a more simple and totally comprehensive service.

Our campaign is centered on the total development and delivery of an extensive application, which will alleviate any stress regarding food insecurity that is exacerbated by using too many separate processes. 

Any donations in excess of our goal will be used to purchase the supplies that we need to keep our doors open, such as the many aluminum pans, meal containers and cleaning supplies that we use every day. We appreciate any and all support to our mission and are deeply thankful for all of you.
