The Turtle Pond at the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center (KPNC) is one of the most popular and beloved outdoor locations in our area. With beautiful flowers and native wildlife like fish, reptiles, birds, and many more, it is among our visitors’ favorite places and boasts the richest diversity and most accessible wildlife that the Nature Center has to offer.
This Tiger Giving Day, help us create a new and incredible, engaging experience at the Turtle Pond with the installation of an immersion landing and outdoor classroom. This will be a high-impact, interactive, educational experience, and a really cool way to get close to the water and enjoy nature!
The project includes an immersion landing which brings visitors right to the water’s edge, and an outdoor classroom focused on water education with spectacular views of the Turtle Pond and high-impact, educational signage. Annually, over 6,000 students come to visit our pond on school field trips. Teaching students and visitors about the importance of a clean water supply will create the water stewards and innovators of the future, and for that reason, initiating this project is so important.
In addition, this project will allow critical rehabilitation efforts to move forward, improving the health of the pond and the surrounding natural habitat. The Turtle Pond has suffered as neighboring properties have been developed, but with your help, the pond can be restored, allowing the plants and animals that call it home to flourish.
By helping us to reach our goal on Tiger Giving Day, you will be adding to YOUR experience at the Nature Center and helping us educate about water conservation and about protecting the wonders of our natural world!
Thank you for supporting the Kreher Preserve & Nature Center and our mission of conservation and nature education!
