Purchase Supplies for Honors College Art Exchange

This year the Honors College student organization, Honors Serves, will host an art exchange and an interactive educational event to foster connectivity between the Alabama Prison Arts + Education Project (APAEP) and the Auburn community. 

This project will aim to not only raise awareness of the APAEP’s mission to bring quality educational opportunities to people incarcerated in Alabama, but to also help provide a fertile field for transformation and growth through art, compassion, and learning. 

Funds raised on Tiger Giving Day will be used for transportation and supply costs for the art exchange program, including drawing pads, drawing pencils and pens, paints, canvases, erasers, printmaking supplies, sculpting tools, and easels.

Our student organization plans to host an educational talk from an APAEP alumni, an art exhibition, and an art exchange between Honors students and incarcerated Auburn students over the course of the year.

Engaging in our community and serving with compassion is a core mission and value of the Honors College. Our hallmark community service programs provide the area with resources and assistance, and create young adults who understand the importance of service. Even after graduation our students continue to lead with a servant’s heart, contributing myriad hours of volunteering, sympathy, and helpfulness to their local communities. 

Some of our hallmark programs might be familiar, such as the Week of Service and ACT/SAT Prep, but our students and student organizations participate and volunteer with numerous non-profit organizations throughout the year. 

The Honors College wants to continue to provide support to these programs, and any programs that our students are passionate about, and thus the Engage Project was born. This fundraising based program will ensure our students can continue to serve our community with compassion, without the burden of financial worry.
