Mannequins that Represent All

Tiger Giving Day is over, but you can still give to the Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management program here.

The Apparel Merchandising, Design and Production Management program (AMDP), within the Department of Consumer and Design Science in the College of Human Sciences, prepares graduates for a variety of fashion-related careers in the global supply chain. Consistently ranked inside the Top 10 for apparel merchandising programs, students that choose to pursue a degree in AMDP are well equipped for what’s next after graduating from Auburn University.

This Tiger Giving Day, the Auburn AMDP program asks for your help to benefit students by offering an inclusive and diverse viewpoint to help shape the growth and success of tomorrow’s apparel fashion leaders.

Given that the apparel industry is complex and dynamic, the AMDP program needs to expose its students to the latest industry trends and standards. With a program focused on “student-centered learning,” students need adequate equipment that is representative of the student body and society.

Your gift this Tiger Giving Day will provide mannequins and dress forms which represent diversity and inclusion for learning purposes.

Currently, the AMDP program does not have gender representation within its mannequins, and has only one male dress form, limiting apparel design students.

With your support, the purchase of new mannequins and dress forms will provide a greater gender representation, represent diverse races or ethnicities, include more size-inclusive mannequins and dress forms, and promote inclusion such as mannequins and dress forms outfitted for sitting in a wheelchair.

Beyond the educational benefit to future AMDP program students, this Tiger Giving Day Project will impact the annual CADS-AMDA Fashion Event and ITAA conference presentations showcasing inclusive, adaptable designs by graduate students and faculty.
