Better Equipment for Wheelchair Basketball Athletes

The Auburn Creed is a cherished statement about what Auburn men and women believe. Among those beliefs is the idea that clean sports develop the qualities of spirit and character. The Auburn Wheelchair Basketball team is a living testament to that belief. This is a team of student athletes who demonstrate such passion and tenacity for sport that around here, wheelchair basketball is the best game on wheels. These are men and women, both disabled and able-bodied who don’t just show up to play, they show up to compete and win, and they could use your help.

From 6 to 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, these student athletes are in Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum, honing the skills they’ll put to use on the court. They work hard, and they need equipment that works hard with them.

No two wheelchair athletes are the same. Abilities and disabilities are rarely identical. Having equipment (like chairs) tailored to meet the needs of each athlete’s body style helps them compete more effectively against other college teams. Where Auburn’s student-athletes are concerned, “one size does not fit all." 

That’s where you come in. As part of Tiger Giving Day, you can help the Auburn Wheelchair Basketball Team be their best by helping upgrade their gear. Your support will level the playing field so that Auburn’s student-athletes can face college teams from around the country with equipment they can count on.
